Sophie
In 2005 I adopted a little fluffy black kitten from the same family as my first kitten Annabelle. Sophie is such a sweet little kitten that follows me around like a puppy. She is also my alarm clock. Sophie knows when the alarm rings at 5 AM that I must go to work at the hospital so she keeps meowing and purring and makes noise until I get up from bed. One day when Sophie was 6 months old she didn't get up with me that day. She stayed on her bed in the bedroom. She wasn't making noise or asking for food. So I immediately thought she must be sick. I took her to the Vet and through a course of tests and exams we determined that she had an infection of unknown source. So she spent the weekend in the Calgary Emergency Hospital receiving IV antibiotics. I came and saw her over the weekend and she would only eat if I was at the pet hospital with her. In the end it cost $3,000.00 including all her tests, IV antibiotics and her stay at the pet hospital. Some people did ask why would you spent that much money?! I look at it this way some people spent much more going on vacation or buying a TV. Sophie is now my $3,000.00 alarm clock and wakes me up at 5:00 am everytime I have to work. I thought I could save this kitten because her problem was fixable and it was the best money I have ever spent! Today she is still the sweetest little friend and so much fun to have around!
