 Sushi and Mojo Get A New Brother Named Sake Thanks for featuring our story of Sushi's adoption from last August. In January 2008 12 year old Mojo got very ill and we were told he had liver failure and probably wouldn't make it more than a few months. He wasn't eating and had blown up like a balloon, his abdomen was so full of fluid he could hardly breathe. Since we had only adopted Sushi in August and he was SO attached to Mojo, we began to look into rescue again for another Bichon, which is how we found Sake. We adopted 7 year old Sake (Sake goes well with Sushi, no?) in February and he took to his new house (especially his Dad) and new brothers immediately. We were told Sake was a puppy mill dog, but he had clearly spent time with someone at some point because he was totally housebroken and knew the commands sit and down. Anyway, as a happy ending, in late March Mojo made a miraculous recovery and has been doing well ever since. We're not sure what did the trick, but we began using the homeopathic supplement SAMe that says it cleanses the liver and he's back to his old self. Mojo turns 13 in July, Sushi turns 4 in August and Sake turns 8. Support Bichon Rescue! |
